The challenge
TLC for Kids needed a digital solution to transform their physical Distraction Boxes into an engaging app for children undergoing medical procedures.
The solution
Avenue developed the “Tap 2 Distract” app using React Native, focusing on a playful and colorful design that featured TLC for Kids’ characters, “Splidge” and “Splodge.” The app includes a variety of distraction games, feedback mechanisms, and a simple interface tailored for children aged 3-12 years.
The impact
The app provides an effective digital distraction tool, reducing anxiety and pain for young patients during medical procedures. With an average user session duration of 2 minutes and 42 seconds, the app allows medical professionals to administer care without rushing, ensuring a better experience for both children and their caregivers.
